My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Ecclesiastes 4

Spooning and strong cords

Summary:
I saw the oppressed. It is so sad. The death have a better life than them. Best of all is to have never even existed.

A lonely man works hard, but gets nothing for it.

Two people work better than one! They can spoon for warmth! However, a three-stranded cord is very strong!

Better to be poor young and wise, than old rich and stubborn.

Key verse:
12. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

My thoughts:
This key verse seems to crop up in the weirdest of places... It seems to have been referred within Christian circles to marriage. The idea is that a man and woman and God combined are a cord not quickly broken. Which is a fair enough teaching point.

I also heard an exorcist on TV using the "three-stranded cord of Ecclesiastes 4:12" to bind demons. Interesting...
