My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Daniel 5

The writing's on the wall

Anyway, the new King had a big banquet with Jerusalem's treasures. Suddenly a massive hand wrote on the wall. None of the magicians could interpret it, so Daniel was brought up. Daniel gave the interpretations but refused any reward.

The new King wasn't humble like his father, Nebuchadnezzar, so the words on the wall meant "You have been judged, your days are numbered, and you'll lose you kingdom to Persia."

That night Darius the Persian took over.

Key verse:
25. This is the inscription that was written:
Mene , Mene , Tekel , Parsin

My thoughts:
The Persians and the Medes are very similar and overlapping people groups, and can pretty much be considered the same within the Bible.

So by now Daniel has very much fit into the 'dream interpreter' role. He's not really a prophet at this stage per se. More like Joseph.

I'm tempted to do the Greek version of Daniel from now, but that would screw up my 1189 days. Not going to happen.
