My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Hosea 12

The heel-striker

Summary:
God will repay Jacob, he who deceived his brother and fought and talked with the angel. You have to return to your God! You use wealth to cover up sin! It doesn't work. God has looked after you through a prophet. You can here from tents, and he will send you back to tents if you're not careful!

Key verse:
6. But you must return to your God;
maintain love and justice,
and wait for your God always.

My thoughts:
Waiting on God is something we don't do very well. We like to rush out and do stuff before God leads us anywhere. We like to preempt him. Often God is just waiting for us to shut up and sit down and listen.

The Sunday before last All Saints Hataitai had a big family service to wrap up the Easter holiday kids programme. The programme had a pirate theme ("Jesus is the treasure"...*cough*...). So the 10:30am also had a whole bunch of pirate stuff.

The best part came when Vicar Paul blessed the offering:

"Oh Lord, we thank you for all the booty in our lives."
