My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Zechariah 8

I wanna be like Jew!

Summary:
God will come back and live in Jerusalem. People will live to a ripe old age there. What seems impossible to you is simple to God. People will be brought back to Jerusalem, and it'll be safe enough to begin the rebuilding. You will be blessed. Just like God planned destruction in the past, he has now planned blessing. Jews will be honoured among people because they have God. The times of mourning will become times of celebration.

Key verse:
23. In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, 'Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.'

My thoughts:
The use of the term 'Jew' here implies that this is a later text, as it was not until after the Babylonian exile that this people group began to be known thus. Perhaps this passage is referring simply to the second temple period.
