My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Zechariah 1

Four horns thrashed by four craftsmen

Whilst Judah was in Persia, God called his people back to himself, to be unlike their disobedient fathers.

Zechariah saw a man on a red horse, with multicolour horses behind him. They went throughout the earth and found it to be peaceful. The angel escorting Zechariah asked God how long he would stay angry with Judah. God thought that the ruling empires had become too comfortable, so Judah would be restored and prosper.

Then there were four horns, the ones which had scattered Judah and Israel. But four craftsmen were coming to scare the horns away.

Key verse:
3. 'Return to me,' declares the Lord Almighty, 'and I will return to you,'

My thoughts:
Ah! I love apocalyptic literature! This passage is clearly referring to Jesus... as four craftsmen. This represents the four stages of Jesus's life; birth and childhood, ministry, death, resurrection. It couldn't be any clearer!

Zechariah's a good book!
