My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Luke 14

Counting the cost

Jesus healed on the Sabbath again, to show that it was good. He explained that we should never assume that we are the honoured guest, or else we could get humiliated. When we offer things, we should give to people who can't repay us. We will get our payment in heaven.

Rich people are snobby. God invites the poor and rejected who are actually grateful to be invited.

Think before you follow Jesus. You have to be willing to reject everything else, including your family and yourself. Don't start something you cannot finish.

Key verse:
28. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?

My thoughts:
When we preach the gospel, we often would neglect Jesus' command for us to count the cost. We don't tell people about that. But we shouldn't take following Jesus lightly. Are you willing to ditch your family? I know many Christians who wouldn't be.

56 days to Halo 3!
