My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Luke 3

The teaching of John

John came first to prepare the way for Jesus. He preached repentance and forgiveness. He accused people of being content in their ancestry, but being Abraham's child is more than just blood. He told people to share and to be honest. John knew he wasn't the Christ, but that he would baptism him, which he did. When he was, there was God's vocal approval and the Holy Spirit coming on him like a dove.

Jesus was a descendant of David, and Adam, and therefor God.

Key verses:
23-38. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,
the son of ... Seth, the son of Adam,
the son of God.

My thoughts:
I like how Luke ties the genealogy into Jesus being God's Son. But this logic, we are, of course, all God's children. Luke's genealogy is different to Matthew's.

Luke contains the most 'comprehensive' documentation of John's ministry in the Bible. It's interesting to read his teaching in comparison to Jesus'.
