My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Mark 6

Big miracles

When Jesus went home they didn't have faith because they thought they knew Jesus. He didn't do many miracles there.

Jesus sent out his disciples to preach to the surrounding towns.

John the baptist had been hassling one of Herod's wives about her relationship, and when she got a chance to get a wish fulfilled by the king by pleasing him with her daughter, she asked for John to be killed. So he was. Some thought Jesus was John resurrected.

When the disciples came back, they were so excited that they didn't eat, and many thousands followed them. Instead of sending them away, Jesus miraculously multiplied food to feed them. There were 5,000 men.

So Jesus stayed back whilst the disciples went across the lake on a boat. Late at night, Jesus walked out to them on the water, and when he got in the boat, the wind became favourable. On the other side, many came to be healed by Jesus.

Key verse:
5. He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

My thoughts:
I wish I could just lay my hands on a few sick people and heal them! That's not that unamazing!

So, all these stories are in Matthew. Notice there is no mention of Peter walking on the water.
