My daily exploration of the Bible, taking it one chapter at a time. If I do it everyday, it'll take 1189 days.

Romans 9

Father Abraham has many sons

Paul is gutted for his own people, but they aren't all Abraham's children. Being a child of Abraham is a spiritual heirship which many Jews have rejected. Similarly, for not particular reason, Jacob the younger was heir over Esau.

God is still just. If he has no compassion, we would all have a bad fate. If he chooses to have mercy on some, then fine! He doesn't need to do it to all people. You might not understand, but that doesn't give you right to blame the God who made you. Maybe he's just building anticipation to show his mercy more greatly. We just don't know.

Israel fell into living by works. That's why Gentiles are being saved. They are doing it by faith.

Key verse:
20. But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?' "

My thoughts:
Though many people will see it as a cop out, I do feel that at the end of the day some things we will not understand and we just have to trust God, even if by our understanding he seems unjust.
